McKayla Hayse, LCSW

McKayla is a Licensed Clinical Social worker with IDFPR. McKayla received her Master's Degree in Social Work from Dominican University with a concentration in International Social Work and her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Evangel University.
Prior to joining Grey Area Therapy McKayla worked in residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient settings for adults with eating disorders and mood and anxiety disorders. McKayla also has experience in community mental health working with individuals and families both in person and via telehealth. She has served folks with a variety of needs including anxiety, depression, trauma, religious trauma, life transitions, codependency and family of origin.
McKayla's approach to therapy is focused on building trust and safety within the therapeutic relationship and operates on the belief that you are the expert in your story. McKayla believes there is value in gaining awareness and understanding in patterns of behavior and walks with her clients through identifying skills to work toward their unique goals and desires. McKayla uses a strengths and trauma informed perspective, and understands that individuals operate within the systems around them.
McKayla works with both individuals clients and couples at Grey Area Therapy and some of her clinical interests include working with young adults helping them explore relationships, family of origin, navigate life transitions, and managing their overall mental health.
Outside of work McKayla enjoys leisure walks by the lake, squeezing every bit of sunshine out of Chicago summers, experimenting with her sourdough starter and taking hiking trips to places like Mt. Everest, Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Grand Canyon.
