FAQ

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can request an appointment using our online scheduler. You can also schedule by emailing us at appointments@greyareatherapy.com.

What are your fees?

Intake (initial sessions) are $165. Routine sessions are $145.

Do you accept insurance?

All of our clinicians are in-network (INN) with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Blue Choice, Aetna PPO, and Cigna PPO plans. Please note that some of our clinicians are able to see clients with United Healthcare plans. Due to United Healthcare's policy, only clinicians with unrestricted license types (LCPC/LCSW) are allowed to accept United Healthcare plans at this time.

How long is a session?

A typical session is around 50 minutes long.

What will we do in session?

In our intake session, we will explore what brings you to counseling, establish your goals to improve your mental health, and make sure we are a good fit for one another. It is the client’s responsibility to come to each session with what they would like to talk about. We recommend taking a couple of notes throughout the week about things that have been on your mind. When in doubt, we will always circle back to the therapeutic goals established in the intake. It is common for these goals to change, and we will update your treatment plan together every couple of months.

What should I do before my first session?

We will send you everything that is needed prior to our first meeting. This will include completing our intake packet, consent for treatment, credit card authorization, and release of information. We will email you a link to our meeting prior to our session.

What is your cancellation policy

When you schedule your appointment, we reserve that time exclusively for you. Therefore, it is common practice for therapists to require 24 hours notice for all cancellations and reschedules. Missed appointments, late cancellations, and late reschedules will result in the full price of the session.

Where are you located?

We are located in the heart of Wicker Park at 1200 N. Ashland in Chicago. We are accessible off the Dvision Blue Line stop, the Division, Ashland, and Milwaukee CTA bus stops. There is ample free parking in the neighborhood. We offer both in-person sessions and via HIPAA-compliant telehealth.

Is therapy confidential?

Therapy, both in person and tele-health, is completely confidential. Everything that we talk about will not be shared without your consent. The exceptions to confidentiality include the following:

  1. If there is reasonable belief that you are at risk of harming yourself or another person.

  2. Therapists are mandated reporters, so If there is suspected child abuse/neglect, suspected abuse/neglect of an individual with special needs or elderly population.

  3. Court mandates and subpoenas.

In the event that confidentiality needs to be breached for one of the reason’s mentioned above, the clinician and client would have a conversation about the information needing to be disclosed.
