Meet Hamid

Hamid Dadkhah, LPC, CRC

Associate Therapist & Practice Manager

He/Him/His

Credentials: Hamid is a Licensed Professional Counselor with IDFPR. Hamid received his Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Rehabilitation from Adler University. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Kansas State University. Hamid is also a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and working towards completion of a Project Management Professional.

Prior to joining Grey Area Therapy, Hamid worked extensively in community mental health, where he had a fifteen-year career helping adolescents, young adults, adults, families, and parents navigate barriers to pursue a wide range of goals. He worked with clients serving a variety of needs ranging from disability, depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting/caregiver roles, family of origin, and vocational exploration.

Hamid specializes in helping both individuals and couples manage not only the psychosocial impact of individual and generational trauma on identity development and relationships, but also help clients understand and redefine their experiences to promote growth, self-awareness, and advancement. He sees value in finding meaning in difficult life experiences to inform new ways of understanding ourselves and interacting with others. He works with clients to reveal their innate worth as unique human beings with strengths they can leverage to build the life they want to live. Hamid sees both adolescents and adults at Grey Area Therapy.

Hamid approaches therapy as an interactive, authentic partnership with mutual responsibilities, and encourages ongoing, collaborative evaluation of the therapeutic relationship to ensure the achievement of goals and explores patterns relevant to how clients relate to the outside world. Hamid sees safety, respect, trust, and comfort as critical foundations for growth and change to occur, and he prioritizes proactive psychoeducation about the process to help understand the nature of the work done together. Hamid recognizes that while his role involves challenging his clients to step outside of comfort zones at times, he values his clients voices, preferences, and agency over the pace of services.

Outside of work, he likes to put his mindfulness skills into practice through a range of outdoor activities like gardening, archery, and kayaking. He especially enjoys teaching himself new recipes in the kitchen almost as much as his dog, Moxie, likes to try them!
