Meet Beth Bennion-Isenberg

Beth Bennion, LSW 

Associate Therapist 

She/Her/Hers 

 

Beth received her Masters' Degree in Social Work from the University at Buffalo and attended Canisius University in Buffalo, NY for her Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Psychology and Human Services. Beth is certified in Motivational Interviewing and Serious Illness Care. 

 

Prior to joining Grey Area Therapy, she worked in Palliative Care meeting with people of all ages in their homes who are experiencing serious/chronic illnesses and providing empathetic support. Beth has experience in community mental health working in a residential treatment center for children engaging in trauma-informed psychotherapy. She has experience in an array of areas including domestic violence and abuse, trauma, anxiety, life transitions, chronic illness, grief, and depression. Beth works to meet each person where they are in life and strives to work collaboratively on goals and benefits therapy can offer. 

 

Beth approaches therapy through an feminist, intersectional, and and strength-based lens. She recognizes each person as an individual with unique needs and unique experiences and focuses on building a therapeutic relationship and safe space where respect and trust are at the core. It's is foundational to Beth that her clients feel empowered, validated, and understood based on their experiences.

At Grey Area Therapy, Beth sees both individuals and couples. She specializes in adolescents and young adults. Beth's clinical interests include working with folks experiencing relationship issues, including survivors of domestic and intimate partner violence. Beth also supports individuals with anxiety, chronic illness, major life transitions, and depression. She utilizes an integrative approach including Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness and grounding techniques.

 

Outside of work, Beth enjoys trying new restaurants and exploring new areas of the city. She spends a lot of time near the water, walking her dog, Iroh, and cozy evenings with mystery books.
